Chair Yoga Skills for Yoga Therapists
Chair Yoga Skills for Yoga Therapists
Pre-Requisite: C-IAYT
This course teaches yoga therapists how to safely use chair yoga poses for clients. It includes 16-hours total of teaching how to teach various yoga poses in a chair, as well as how to keep students safe who may have conditions such as osteoporosis, joint issues, joint replacements and more. Various arthroplasties are discussed including shoulder replacements (both anatomic and reverse), knee replacements (total and partial), and hip replacements (anterior, and posterior surgical techniques).
A key aspect of this course is to equip yoga therapists with a broader repertoire of poses that can be done in a chair. This practical knowledge is invaluable when working with individuals who may not be able to get up and down off the floor, as well as students with joint replacements, osteoarthritis, or other ailments that may warrant the need for a chair.
