Certificate Earned upon Completion: Trauma Healing Yoga Therapist
Pre-requisites: Must be currently enrolled in Step 2 or beyond of SCHYS Yoga Therapy Program.
This classes includes discussion in stress, the HPA-axis, and the autonomic nervous system, the pathogenesis of trauma-related issues and ailments such as PTSD, Anxiety, Depression, Insomnia, and more. JJ Gormley, MS, CIAYT, ERYT500, will guide students in the following: how to safely plan and design a class practice, the anatomy & physiology of stress, the HPA-axis, and the autonomic nervous system, the pathogenesis of trauma-related issues and ailments, current research using yoga as the intervention, healing suggestions for trauma-related issues, case studies of clients with trauma.
Requirements
Trauma Healing Online Classes 1 - Eight one-hour classes on Schoology, each requires a Discussion Post.
Trauma Healing Online Classes 2 - Eight one-hour classes on Schoology, each requires a Discussion Post.
Case Studies Online Class - Eight week session where you present two case studies of client’s you’ve worked with who have a trauma issue. Case study presentations are made on the case studies online class—see Current Online Classes.
Practical Application Module (PAM) - 18 hours of in-person training where students will work with clients with a history of trauma.
This course is taught by JJ Gormley, a Yoga Alliance Continuing Education Provider (YACEP).
This course is an Approved Professional Development course with the International Association of Yoga Therapists (IAYT).
The Practicum Application Module has not been scheduled.
