Vagus Nerve (Applications in Yoga Therapy for)
Certificate Earned upon Completion: Yoga Therapy for the Vagus Nerve
Pre-requisites: Must be currently enrolled in Step 2 or beyond of SCHYS Yoga Therapy Program.
This classes includes discussion in stress, the autonomic nervous system, the pathogenesis of issues that involve the vagus nerve including ailments such as PTSD, Anxiety, Depression, Insomnia, difficulty swallowing, digestive issues, and more. JJ Gormley, MS, CIAYT, ERYT500, will guide students in the following: how to safely plan and design a class practice, the anatomy & physiology of the vagus nerve and other cranial nerves, current research on the vagus nerve, and healing suggestions for clients with suspected vagus nerve issues.
Requirements
Vagus Nerve Online Classes 1 - Eight one-hour classes on Schoology, each requires a Discussion Post.
Vagus Nerve Online Classes 2 - Eight one-hour classes on Schoology, each requires a Discussion Post.
Case Studies Online Class - Eight-week session where you present two case studies of client’s you’ve worked with who have an issue that you believe effected their vagus nerve. Case study presentations are made on the case studies online class—see Current Online Classes.
Practical Application Module (PAM) - 18 hours of in-person training where students will work with clients with a history of trauma.
This course is taught by JJ Gormley, a Yoga Alliance Continuing Education Provider (YACEP).
This course is an Approved Professional Development course with the International Association of Yoga Therapists (IAYT).
The Practicum Application Module has not been scheduled.
